ACIM Lesson 177

Lesson 177: Review: “God is but Love, and therefore so am I.”  “There is no death.  The Son of God is free.”  “Now we are one with Him Who is our Source.”

The Introduction here says, “But now, we hasten on, for we approach a greater certainty, a firmer purpose and a surer goal.”

We have every reason to want to get right to God.

The Course says that God is the most perfect parent that each one of us ever had and actually even better than that.  It is impossible to describe God because His perfection can’t be spoken of.

Words are imperfect and fail to explain God because of the heightened degree of His splendor.

We must sit and speculate and wonder.

This is good if we are because then our minds will be open for the possibility that God can be so much greater than our limited vision.

The Course teaches us to always hold space for the possibility that God and our lives will and can get inexplicably better.

We- in the ego’s mentality-just see everything as limited and with a lens of lack, because this is the nature of the ego through and through.

We must simply realize that this happens and allow for that to change, in simply holding space that things can be so much better.

We don’t have to do anything else.

When we do that, we just get out of the way.

Then, the Universe can accurately reflect back our minds of plenty where we live, breath and exude the supremely powerful energy and nature of God.

God is our perfect parent and is the our most cherished friend or loved one.   With God, we have most extraordinary relationship, that serves us beyond what we can understand, because God wants to have this amazing relationship with us.

This means God loves to serve us and take care of us in all the important ways, in the spiritual ways that God knows well and the worldly ways in which God is generally not.

But because He loves us so much, God is willing to take care of our lives as a humans as well.

God wants to make sure we have absolutely everything we want and need, and therefore, God is eager to provide this for us.  We just need to remember that we have all these reasons to want to be close to God.

The ego’s argument against our being close to God is actually insane if we look at it with any real inspection.

It is something we want to do but get sidetracked and we forget to ask ourselves to connect with our willingness to get to God.

We want to hasten to get to God because of all the good reasons.

We can enjoy this process because we know how amazing God is and how great we feel when we let ourselves remember the truth about God’s devotion toward us.

We just need to sit down and hear the truth and not resist.

This is a trick at times, but all we need is a wee bit of willingness in the process.

The Course reminds us that we have all these reasons to be enthusiastic about getting to God and thus, we want to do so as quickly as possible.

We don’t want to rush in an ego way.

The ego’s way of hastening is with that feeling of trying to actually get out of the current moment by rushing to the next thing.

When we have that ego urgency it is when we aren’t willing to sit still and listen to God and listen to ourselves.

We don’t want to miss the moment because it is precious.  One the thing that happens when the ego hastens is that we forget to stay thoroughly engaged in the moment now in the process of getting to the next place.

We want to be excited about joining with God and anticipating the happy juncture, but also just breathing and giving ourselves the space to feel ourselves in the moment on our way.
