Lesson 211: Review: “I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.” “I am the holy Son of God Himself.”
The Course says that we are perfect reflections of God. There is no difference between us and God’s energy and God’s perfection. We encapsulate exactly a picture of God. We are exactly a living and breathing manifestation of God. The Course says that the world and bodies are not real because they are temporal and imperfect and therefore, never can be considered God substance as God is eternal and wholly perfect. However we are correct in assuming that we are in fact of God’s substance because God planned it so all there is is God energy. We are the natural descendants and heirs of God, therefore, we naturally contain and exude only what is God.
But because we got to a place of believing in the separation from God we simply have to exist temporarily on the earth until our work as a human is done- when we return completely to God. This world is the place we live while we have our moments of forgetting our only role as God’s heirs. Therefore, the world exists in our dreams and we have to deal within it as we work on remembering that returning to the memory of God is our only purpose and pleasure. We are simply in the world to do our tasks in connection to our purpose- that of God’s. This our only actual purpose in the existence of our human life.
Therefore we must hold in one hand that we are only in the world for the time being so that we can use time to remember only how to remember God. On the one hand we need to understand that this world is fictional truly, but on the other hand the world provides us with a spot in the realm in which we can figure out how to return to God. The world is the place we must forgive because it gives us the space and time to remember this only important truth that we are simply a reflection of God.
The Course says people don’t exist, thus, I actually don’t exist. But with that said, we need to simply hold lightly and gently that while we are in human form we can remember that truly the human form means nothing and is nothing- we are rather the perfect manifestation of the holy Son of God. Even though they may seem not to go with each other, we are asked to keep working on remembering that Jesus asks us to carry both of these truths so we can embody the message and truth of God with us through and through our activities.
This lesson says, “In silence and true humility I seek God’s glory, to behold it in the Son whom He created as my Self.” Our true humility refers to the sweet feeling we have of not being less than or insignificant or in cue for some punishment because we feel unworthy. The Course teaches us that we absolutely must know that we can sit with the truth of how great God is. We must not make God any less in the process of connecting with our true humility. But also what is absolutely necessary is not making ourselves in some way feeling unworthy to receive the best gifts from God. The Course teaches us to not to put ourselves down for being unworthy of the gift of God. What we want to do instead is understand that we are needing to sit in our certainty that God is happy and loving enough to give us exactly what we want and need to function most optimally in our lives.
