Lesson 340:  “What is the ego?”  “I will not hurt myself again today.”

We have the option of making the daily practice of choosing how we want to live, with or without pain.  

We always have the opportunity to have the option to choose on any given day. 

That means, it doesn’t matter how many times we have chosen pain.

  It can and will change the instant we are ready and willing for that change. 

This means we are not stuck in any way in the present or in the future.

We have an ability to enjoy the fluidity of the moment, because it changes whenever we do.  

We can appreciate that we can choose whatever moment we want to see, and just enjoy what we call to our lives and to our minds, through our thoughts and intention.

We always get to choose, and this is the gift the Course teaches us to accept and get fully active within around this option to choose.  All we need to do is to be willing to make the decision to choose and then do it.   It is ever so simple.

I love the reminder that we just need to choose for today.  Definitely the ego can get completely paralyzed in the old fear of the future, the fear about how to maintain our changes or improvement down the line.

It can feel like such a daunting task.  But we are so fortunate that we are given the gift of starting every day new- so that we are always in the present moment.  We don’t have to worry about the future.  It can feel way over the top difficult.

When we have moments of feeling overwhelmed about what we may want to do, just remember all we have to do is be in the moment now.  

There is no other moment, because any ideas of future or past are simply projections and untruths because they are within time, and therefore, not entirely of God, because God is surely timeless. 

That means we can just focus on the very moment now.  We come and show up in the fullest way in the moment, and choose God and choose lightness and joy whenever we can.

When we show up and do our best in the moment, this is the perfect response to everything, because it is that moment we share with God- the holy moment that is the present.

We also get to start every moment as totally new from the last one because that is what we do when we are living in the present. 

That means none of our moments are hampered with our old judgements about the past.

In fact, God gives us not only the permission, but the absolute right to show up in the moment and live in God’s perfect present every moment. 

If we lose track of where we are, we are free to start the process again of reentering, and getting back to the present where we find God.
