Lesson 201: Review: “I am not a body.  I am free.  For I am still as God created me.” “I trust my brothers who are one with me.” “I will be still an instant and go home.”
The Course teaches us how to live in harmony with our brothers and sisters.  We must realize that they are not only our worthy companions but they are also our direct ticket to get to Heaven.  A lot of us in the world end up competing with those around us, even if they are our partners or best friends or children.  We often don’t even think about how it feels to be up against someone else energetically and also trying to reach the upper hand over them with our intention and effort.  We are programmed from an early age not to even pay notice to this attack between us- no matter how close or intimate our relationships might be.

These end up being an arena for emotional combat via our intention and will.  This lesson says that we must trust our brothers.  This means that we put away our axes and get off the battlefield on which we have enticed them to part take in the insane clash of minds and hearts.  We call on the miracle and we get liberated from our efforts to overtake the other person and be declared the ‘winner’.  The Course says- we must make clear that we don’t perpetuate the war between us that goes on unbridled when we momentarily look away.

This is an essential first step and this allows us to simply get out of the cycle of violence with them- even if this is simply emotionally or energetically.  However, beyond that, we are asked to establish a relationship between us that is only love.  We want love and forgiveness when needed to be the one thing that binds us.  We want to fill that magic space between us with the energy of God.  This is the way we trust.  When we put away our sabers and reconstitute our energy between us with only the link of love, then trust is established.
The way to make our salvation is when our trust with our brothers and sisters is perfectly intact.  And, this demonstrates for us a place where we can be authentic with them and ourselves and know that this is where we share our safety together in the union of our bond as God’s chosen siblings.  What we need to do is realize sometimes our sense of trust when we exist with our brothers and sisters in the world starts to wax and wane because we don’t and can’t trust the world.  When we are there, sometimes we can only see the insanity.  Therefore, we don’t naturally feel safe there.  Then when we try to feel this trust with other humans we often find ourselves at a true loss about how to get out of the sense of vulnerability that is unmistakable in  the world.  Then, we must get to a place where we can actually feel safe when we find ourselves traversing the world with our beloved comrades of God.
