Miracles Lesson 210: “I am not a body.  I am free.  For I am still as God created me.”  “I choose the joy of God instead of pain.”

The Lesson brilliantly explains, “Pain is my own idea.” 

The Course brilliantly explains that pain is not real and therefore it has no power to affect any of us at any time in our lives.  The Course explains that all illusions  are not real, like our bodies and the world and all the parts of life that regularly upset us. 

Since they are all unreal we need to make sure to remember this distinction so we never get into a position where we allow all of the worlds chains to affect us and make us angry or upset.

Since the world and our bodies are unreal they affect us not and we need to remember this is true and approach the world and our lives with a sense of peace and joy because the world and ours bodies have no power to upset us. 

So this means the world will allow us to meet it mildly and neutrally as long as we remember.  The Course ays we need to be the ones to remind ourselves of this truth so we know it in the most prominent place in our minds so we remember when we need this knowledge to carry us through upsets.

When we know that pain is our own idea then we can come to the awareness that pain is only in our minds.  The egos always convince us that pain is real and that it is unavoidable, so often we feel helpless when we experience pain because our egos convince us we have no choice.  

I am grateful that the Course reminds us that pain is simply in our minds so we can not be affected by it when we know that pain is only in our minds.  This makes us upset and discouraged when we believe  pain is unavoidable. 

We forget to fight for sanity and settle for nothing less than total peace within when we have to deal with and we encounter pain.

The Course explains that since pain is in my mind then I can make another choice and choose peace in our minds so we no longer experience pain.    The Course says we are all powerful enough to choose our own lives. 

We must be willing to show up and choose so our minds in order to no longer suffer.  So pain for us is optional too we just need to make sure we choose comfort  instead of pain and all of our worldly problems will go away. Being pain free is simple when we let it be.
